Frequently
Asked Questions

The things people ask most when using Gigo. Can't find what you're looking for? Check our About page or drop us a line.

What is Gigo?
Gigo is a free, independent guide that brings live music, DJ and dance venues together on a single map. You can filter venues by district, music format, genre and whether you can dance there. Istanbul is our first pilot city.
What do the colours on the map mean?
A pin's colour shows the venue's music format: yellow for live music, red for DJ, black for both live music and DJ. Cream pins mark venues where you can dance, and dashed pins mark venues whose format we don't know yet. You'll find the same key on the card at the bottom left of the map.
What does “Awaiting confirmation” mean?
These are venues we haven't yet been able to confirm are open. Their pages are live, but they don't appear on the map or in the counts until we confirm them. Before you head out, we recommend checking the venue's Instagram.
Why can’t I see closed venues?
When a venue closes, we take it off Gigo. The list, the map and the counts only include venues that are open. If you come across one that has closed, let us know and we'll remove it.
Can I install Gigo on my phone?
Yes — no app store needed. On iPhone, tap the Share icon in Safari and choose “Add to Home Screen”. On Android, tap “Add to Home screen” in the Chrome menu. Pages you've already opened, and the map, will load even when you're offline.
I spotted a mistake. What should I do?
Email us at info@heygigo.app — just include the venue's name and what's wrong. You'll find the sources at the bottom of each venue page.
Does Gigo cost anything?
No, Gigo is completely free. You can explore every venue in Istanbul at no cost.
